Choose Your Level of Torment
Easy mode for Sunday sleuths. Hard mode for those who enjoy suffering. We cater to all forms of investigative masochism.
Not every detective works the same way. Some prefer methodical evidence gathering. Others thrive under impossible pressure. We have built three distinct experiences to match your preferred brand of investigation.
Easy Mode: The Gentleman Detective
Perfect for your first few cases or when you simply want to enjoy the narrative without excessive pressure.
- Generous time limits that let you explore thoroughly
- More obvious contradictions in suspect statements
- Clearer connections between clues and suspects
- Hints available when you find yourself stuck
Think of it as having a seasoned partner whispering suggestions in your ear. You still do the work, but the guardrails prevent complete disaster.
Medium Mode: The Standard Investigation
The experience as originally designed. Challenging but fair.
- Balanced time pressure that rewards efficiency
- Suspects who lie convincingly but leave traces
- Clues that require genuine deduction to connect
- Limited mistakes allowed before consequences kick in
Most players settle here after their first case or two. It provides genuine satisfaction when you crack it and genuine frustration when the killer escapes.
Hard Mode: The Cold Case Unit
For those who believe suffering builds character.
- Brutal time constraints that punish hesitation
- Suspects who lie with terrifying confidence
- Red herrings that could derail an entire investigation
- One wrong accusation and the case goes cold forever
We have watched skilled players fail on Hard mode. Repeatedly. Some have called it unfair. We prefer to call it realistic. Real detectives do not get unlimited guesses.
Which Should You Choose?
Start with Easy if this is your first mystery game. Graduate to Medium once you understand the mechanics. Attempt Hard only when you have something to prove.
The difficulty you choose reveals the detective you truly are.
